Hi Gail,

I spent about two months making this work. There is also a good book, "Defiled Trades and Social Outcasts: Honor and Ritual Pollustion in Early Modern Germany," by Kathy Stuart, that mentions the dynasty of Deiblers as executioners in the 14 and 1500's. We have quite a history, friend!

CL, also perhaps a cousin but maybe not?

wow. awesome work. you managed to make some funny illustrations about anatole deibler... this is what i call a challenge :) i found you page making research about the bonnot gang. do you think you really are anatole's cousin ? when and how did you learn about him ? this guy beheaded 400 people and you painted all of them. crazy. good work !

Hi Sabrina,

Thanks for our compliment on my work! I had always heard, growing up, that we were related to a long line of executioners in Germany. That's about as much as I know- I don't know about a direct connection to Anatole, but Deibler is not such a common name. Maybe... ;-)
