The DMV. Soul-Crushing Black Hole of Desperateness. But I'm Not Bitter...

Revisiting some past sketchbooks yielded this image. It makes me weep. And grit my teeth. (Not unlike that moment in which I discover that the DSW Shoe Outlet coupon I've been hoarding has expired.) On this particular morning the line to be admitted to the interior space of the DMV actually wound around the exterior of the building. We were let inside in waves. Once admitted, the inner sanctum yielded a vast wasteland of thinly padded chairs, cranky patrons, and crankier employees. Good times!

The DMV Hates you, DMV, waiting, automobiles, driver's license, chairs, forms, frustration, sketchbook, ink

Woman's Best Friend

Dog, pet, dogs, cartoon, man's best friend, woman's best friend, chihuahua, chihuahuas

Our little dog, Roosevelt, is our heart's delight. What a good dog! Chihuahua's rule.

La Specola, Firenze, Italy

La Specola is Florence's Natural History Museum. And, what a place! It's full of 18th and 19th century taxidermy and wax models of the human body. Definitely a "must-see" if you are in the area. Six euros well spent, I say. Weird, wonderful, and not to be missed.

Because I'm Not Busy Enough...

Because I don't have enough to do, I've begun making little things from that magic material, Fimo dough. While I've never been particularly "3-D," these are somehow attracting me in an inexplicable way. Some are charms and some are pins, but all are something I don't really have time for!
